Hello folks!
So this is another newspost on the frontpage.
As you may have noticed, we couldn't release Alpha 3 on the 22nd May, although we are working hard on the next version, so stay tuned for that.
Since the development of our brand new version is coming to an end, we want you to show you some little overview of it.
General Changes
Scripting
Synchronisation
Yes, today on the 22nd of May, IV:MP is exactly one year old.
In order to celebrate this, we are going to give you some little overview of what happened the last year.
IV:MP 0.1 - The first try
End of June 2009, Leopard (the former leader of IV:MP) and JeNkStA opened the IV:MP forums for everybody to register.
Since the team only consisted of 2 people, Leopard and JeNkStA were looking for betatesters. There were many applicants but in the end, Nine9 and Sebihunter made it into the team.
On the 3rd of July, the first IV:MP was published on YouTube.
From there on, some other Development videos which showed some improved walking sync were made.
On the 16th of July, a new Developer called ReVo (EinStein) joined the team.
Sadly, on the 13th of August Leopard had a big quarrel with JeNkStA and left the team. From that point on, JeNkStA was the leader of IV:MP.
On the same day, the IV:MP team released a first video showing off their vehicle sync.
From there on, the IV:MP had many ideas like supporting 3 scripting languages (Pawn, Squirrel and Lua). Although, most of this ideas have been dropped later on. Also, Cameron and Andreas joined the team as betatesters since Nine9 became inactive.
Also, from there on JeNkStA had major problems with his internet, which meant that he wasn't online most of the time. Progress was very slow and people thought the project was dead.
Even with those problems, the team managed to release a last testing video on the 13th of October, and a video showing the Pawn compatibility with some SA:MP includes on the 29th of November.
In January 2010, JeNkStA finally had internet again. Since IV:MP was unstable, crashy and bguged as hell there were many ideas how to continue. After MaVe started working on his "IV: Online" modification, JeNkStA decided to recode the core of IV:MP.
IV:MP 0.1 - The second try
After IV:MP 0.1 was stable, JeNkStA had a great base to work on. All the testers were absolutely stunned, when they saw how stable IV:MP has become.
The first video of the "new" IV:MP was published end of February 2010.
From there on, a VIP group was made and at the first time, people who were not in the team had the chance to play IV:MP on their own.
IV:MP 0.1 - Alpha 1 and 2
On the 3th of April, the first public release, IV:MP 0.1 Alpha 1, was aviable for download on the main page. Some days later, Alpha 2 came out with fixed bugs and some more features.
EinStein (also known as ReVo) rejoined the team, MaVe stopped working on IV: Online to join the IV:MP team as developer. IV:MP has gone more popular than the whole team ever expected it to be and the page was several times down because of too many people trying to access it.
IV:MP 0.1 - The future
What are the next goals? Indeed, Alpha 3 will come with synced walking animations, an overall better sync, many new functions and a ingame browser made with the help of CEGUI.
There is still loads of work to be done, but theres also many things finished.
The future of multiplayer is coming, it's only a matter of time.
